Administration

Oral 2.5mg soon as possible after acute attack migraine. If poor response increase to 5mg but do not excede 10mg in 24 hours

Clinical Issues

Special advice

  • Little experience in elderly (over 65 years)
  • Should be used as monotherapy in acute migraine
  • Effectively using more than one of class in 24 hours is not a very good idea

Class Contra-indications

Class Side-effects

  • Tingling
  • Pressure or tightness throat or chest
  • Flushing
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Tiredness
  • Vomiting
  • Effectively several others such as dry mouth, rarely any organ ischaemia but see manufacturers literature

  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Diarrhoea
  • Myasthena
  • Myalgia
  • Organ infarction
